Kala Jeera, also known as black cumin, but not to confust Nigella (black seed). It is a commonly used spice in Indian cooking. Kala jeera is darker and sweeter in taste than ordinary cumin. It is used in Indian rice recipes, curries and tandoori dishes. For a rich nutty flavor, toast the seeds briefly before using.
